The word food is derived from the Latin word “Fertilise” which means to grow and nurture. Food, substance containing essentially protein, carbohydrates, sugar, and other essential nutrients needed by an organism for vital functions and growth in order to provide energy for the body. Plants that feed off of plants are usually sources of food for several different animals as well.

Food is a basic necessity in all cultures and societies. People all over the world have been known to eat food in order to survive. Food has been around since man’s existence in prehistoric times. It is considered an important part of human life and is usually part of the traditional diet of most people. Food has always been the staple for most of our tribes.

Many people eat different kinds of food in order to satisfy their dietary needs. Some people like to eat a variety of foods, while others prefer to eat only certain types of food. There is also food referred to as junk food which can be very unhealthy. Junk food is not really healthy at all. Junk food is made with processed food ingredients and sugars. Junk food is usually eaten by children and adolescents because of their limited diet.

Foods that are commonly eaten include rice, breads, cereals, pasta, potatoes, beans, milk, butter, cheese, pork, and many other types of foods. Foods that are not commonly eaten are meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits. The meat, particularly red meat, is the most common food consumed. Meat is also the most important food for human consumption. Vegetables are also not common. Fruit are also eaten but rarely.

Different types of food have different nutritional values. Some are high in protein and some are high in carbohydrates. In general, the lower the quality, the higher the protein and the higher the carbohydrates. There are three major groups of foods that are considered to be the major sources of energy for humans: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy and are used mostly in energy production. Proteins are the major source of energy and are used mainly in building muscle. Fats are used mainly for energy production.

Human beings need food in order to live. Without food, human beings can not survive. If the human body does not get adequate amounts of proper nutrition, it will most likely become sick. Most people eat in order to meet their daily nutritional needs. However, many people do not know what type of food they should be eating. By learning what type of food they should eat, many people can avoid suffering from serious illness.
